Matcha tea is a type of green tea powder that is characterized by a bright green color. It is obtained by spraying the green leaves of the tea plant that are grown in the shade. By avoiding sunlight, they manage to keep all the chlorophyll, nutrients and antioxidants that the plant contains. Thus, it retains all the properties of classic green tea boosted to a higher level.
This tea is particularly rich in antioxidants, chlorophyll, caffeine and L-theanine, which helps relaxation, and other nutrients characteristic of green tea such as minerals, vitamins A, B, C, E and K and dietary fibers. A cup of matcha tea is equivalent to taking ten of green tea.
Because of its content in catechins and polyphenols, including epigallocatechin (EGCG), it is believed that this type of tea accelerates metabolism and could thus promote weight loss.
On the other hand, when talking about matcha tea, reference is also made to L-theanine, which is found only in tea plants, and which helps to concentrate and relieve stress and anxiety, while increasing our state of alert.
